Writer Jane Goldman In Talks To Work On Tim Burton’s Pinocchio
Kick-Ass screenwriter Jane Goldman is reportedly in talks with Warner Bros to write the script for Tim Burton’s upcoming new film Pinocchio.
The film is set to be a live-action adaptation of Italian author Carlo Collodi’s fairtytale story of a boy puppet.
With eccentric director Tim Burton on board the film, this tale of a handmade puppets journey to becoming a real boy is sure to be a lot darker than Disney’s classic 1940 animated film version.
It was back in last September that Warner Bros announced they would be working with Burton on an adaption of Pinocchio. Originally Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller was set to work on the film script however, due to undisclosed issues, the filmmakers are looking for a new script and writer.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, writer Jane Goldman, wife of British chat show host Jonathon Ross, is in talks to take on the script, and is said to be in the final stages of negotiating a deal with Warner Bros.
Meanwhile, Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr is said to be joining the film as woodcraftsman Geppetto- the man who created Pinocchio.
It is thought that unlike the Disney version of Pinocchio, which follows Pinocchio on his journey to becoming a real boy, Tim Burton plans for the film to focus on a different perspective, that of Geppetto’s quest to find missing Pinocchio.
