Wedding craft ideas: Quick and easy keepsakes to cherish forever
Quick and easy wedding keepsakes and crafts.
Your wedding day will only happen once, but with the right keepsakes you’ll have a lifetime of special memories to reflect upon and cherish. Read on for some easy wedding keepsakes that you can make yourself.
Card Box- You’re sure to receive lots of wedding cards filled with wishes for a long and happy marriage. To preserve these beautiful reminders of your big day, design a special box to store them. For a simple and meaningful storage box, simply decoupage one of your wedding invitations to the lid of an archival photo box.
Bridal Jewelry- Before you run out to buy jewelry to go with your bridal gown, you might want to think about making your own bridal jewelry. By doing so, you’ll end up with a custom look to coordinate perfectly with your gown, and a keepsake that you’ll be able to wear again and again. Plus, as an added bonus, you’ll get a special thrill every time you see your handcrafted jewelry in your wedding photos.
Unity Candle- If you plan to include a unity candle in your ceremony, make it a customized one. Just melt some candle wax; and use it to affix mementos from your relationship onto a pre-made candle. Not sure what mementos to include? Dried flower petals work especially well. If you’ve saved flowers from past Valentine’s Days, or your first date, you might want to consider using them. After your wedding you can place the candle in your home, and then relight it each year on your anniversary for a special reminder of your wedding, and the events that led up to it.
Guest Book- A guest book is a must-have wedding keepsake. To make yours extra special, forgo the store-bought version in favor of a homemade one. Pick up an acid-free journal with a plain cover, and then decoupage mementos from your relationship onto the surface. Be sure to include photos, ticket stubs and any other trinkets that tell the story of your relationship.
Wedding Program- The effort that you put into preserving the decorations and other items from your wedding is just as important as the effort that you have put into all the planning. Take the time to make sure you’ve saved a copy of your wedding program, and any special decorations that you want to keep. You might ask a friend to save some of the flowers from your ceremony for drying if you will not be able to do so yourself. Then once you’ve returned from your honeymoon, purchase a picture frame, and place your wedding program and flowers inside.
As you are planning your wedding day be sure to spend some time thinking about what keepsakes you would like to take away from your big day. A keepsake doesn’t have to be elaborate to be special; it just has to reflect the love that led you and your husband to the Altar. Remember that and you are sure to come away with the perfect wedding keepsakes and a lifetime of memories.
