Vivienne Westwood lives up to her reputation
It was one of the most anticipated shows this LFW (London Fashion Week), and Vivienne Westwood didn’t fail to disappoint at her Red Label show yesterday where she blew the crowd away with her British Royal Gardens inspired line – and it was more than impressive.
Vivienne launched an deeply creative range with a colour palette including greys, greens and blues, and micro checks and wools offering a fresh, edgy alternative to a girly summer dress. Gorgeous gingham knits looked perfect for day to night wear with an added pair of heels, and cocktail evening dresses mixed the palette up with paler hues.
Impressionistic lilies were printed on fluid jerseys with details of metallic silver embroidery, whilst draped jackets and cigarette pants with duchesse trims were used for a more androgynous alternative. There were also a variety of stunning evening gowns fit for a princess with midnight blues, black and gold in straight silhouettes.
And Vivienne herself looked like the best advert for her clothes in a T-shirt designed by herself which was also worn by Lady Gaga that same day, emblazoned with the writing ‘Climate Revolution.’ The designer looked wackier than ever with a pair of tights worn over her striped shorts, teaming the look with a leopard print hat with gold net beads over the top.
Lady Gaga wore the punk inspired T-shirt with a multi layered striped gypsy skirt, box bags and dark shades.
