Usher Granted Custody Of Two Sons
Usher’s bitter custody battle with his ex-wife Tameka drew to a close yesterday with the courts granting Usher custody of his two sons.
The 33 year-old RnB singer was awarded primary care of his two sons, 4 year-old Usher Raymond V and 2 year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond. The children will spend most of their time with their dad, whilst Tameka will have some access to the children, however it still remains unclear how much.
Just a few weeks ago Tameka tragically lost her 11 year-old son Kile from a previous relationship, after he died from implications of a freak jet ski accident. The news of losing custody of both her sons will be sure to cause further for Tameka, who is said to be struggling with the loss of Kile.
The long custody battle was tiresome, with both parties slinging low blows towards each other. Tameka is said to have accused Usher of being an absent father who was preoccupied with his music career and wild partying ways, whilst he claimed Tameka was a bad mother who had no emotional bond with their two boys.
Usher’s attorney is thought to have told the court the following about Tameka’s mental state: “She does not have the emotional stability or capacity to bond with them, and therefore she is handicapped.” Tameka defended herself by claiming that Usher used narcotics in front of their two boys, forcing Usher to admit to smoking marijuana in their presence.
Prior to going to court Usher and Tameka who divorced in 2009 had a co-parenting agreement in place, however both parties agreed this plan was no longer working.
