The race was made harder by the harsh winds and high temperature. Indeed the triathlon proved to be a challenge to both experienced participants and the novices.
Hardest part for Heller was the swim
Dora Heller said she usually trains on a similar terrain near her home which gave her an advantage. She noticed that her fellow competitors made costly mistakes while riding on the harsh terrain which made them tire quickly. Heller and her runner up Mazin have both won the the women’s Full Israman title alternatingly in the past two years. The womens’s Full Israman Triathlon had Israelis in the top three positions. This was quite an achievement considering the many women who took part in the Triathlon. Heller admitted that the
terrain was still tough even for her, a local who grew up there. The hardest part for her was the swim in which she had one of the lowest times of 1:41:44. However she quickly made up for the few minutes lost in the bicycle race, and coceeded only a minute in the marathon to emerge victorious.
