TLC Reveal Plans To Record New Album
TLC band members Rozanda ‘Chilli’ Thomas and Tionne ‘T-Boyz’ Watkins have just announced that they are planning to record their first album, since third band member Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes’ tragic death 10 years ago.
Whilst the women did release their fourth studio album, 3D several months after Lisa’s death in 2002, this new album will be the first time fans will hear tracks from just the twosome, as 3D featured songs Lisa recorded prior to her death.
Announcing the news at the MOBO awards on Saturday, Rozanda and Tionne reassured their fans that their new music will still have a strong TLC sound to it. Tionne told the BBC: “We’ve always grown throughout the years and have always had our own sound. That’s what works for us and we don’t have to worry about anybody else.”
Along with the new album, the two women are also considering embarking on a world tour, honoring Lisa’s legacy with the use of a hologram, similar to the one Dr Dre used at Coachella festival earlier this year, to bring rap legend Tupac ‘back to life’.
Speaking of the possibility of bringing back Lisa via a hologram, Rozanda explained: “It will be hard on us but I certainly think our fans would love to see the hologram. We would definitely be the first group to ever do it.”
Lisa’s untimely death occurred after she was involved in a car crash in Honduras, where she was working on filming a documentary for VH1. After Lisa’s death Rozanda and Tionne agreed to stop recording music as TLC, until now.
