The winner of Israman 113K in Eilat was Nina Pekerman. On the 25th of january, the competition was arranged in the beautiful city of Eilat and organized by Shvoong and Michael Katz. It was held in the beautiful shores of Red Sea, Eilat (City of Israel) and in the windy Eilat Mountains.
The Israman (Ironman Triathlon) is a series of a long distance race, which is mainly organized by World Triathlon Corporation in different areas of the world. This competition starts with a 2.4 miles swim, followed by 112 mile bicycle race and ends up with the marathon which is 26.2 mile long. The race is carried out in the same order without any kind of break.
Nina Pekerman wins Israman 113k in Eilat
The winner of Israman 113K was Nina Pekerman. She completed the race in 5:42:45, which is worth appreciating due to high winds covering most of the competition area.
Nina Pekerman deserved a victory because of her utmost effort throughout the competition. Ironman is considered one of the toughest competitions all over the world, as it does not comprise of any kind of break in it.
Nina is born in Moldova. She came to Israel in her youth without her parents. Nina started participating in sports from her childhood at the age of 13-14. But at the age of 9 she was already setting young age swimming records. Her parents moved her to sports boarding school when she was quite young.
She was 17 years old when she came to Israel. She worked as a secretary in the Israel Defence forces in the start, after which she was recruited in the physical fitness courses, where she served the people with great diligence.
She participated in Ironman for 9 times. In 2002, she participated in the Ironman competition for the very first time.
She served the army as a fighting instructor for many years. Because of a lot of hard work and over training, she started feeling ill, and remained unconscious for 3 consistent days. Doctors advised her to stay in the wheel chair because of the over exhaustion. She was reluctant and did not want to waste her strength by sitting on a wheel chair for the rest of her life.
She has remained World Champion in 2010. She is also awarded as the World vice Champion and has remained European Champion as well. Israeli triathlon Champion in 2005, 2006, 2007 plus also 2004 and 2009 (on 2008 Nina took a year off and didn’t compete) her racing stuff are provided to her by local companies as DAA (for her Cannondale bicycle), and israeli branches of international companies like Polar for her sport watch, Craft for the suits, Brooks for the running shoes.
Nina has established company named Bridge to Dream with her partner and mental coach named Efrat Avnor. This company will help the people on gaining maximum physical strength and fitness from mental coaching.
Michael Katz and Shvoong to launch new israman on the sea of Galilee.
Michael Katz is the organizer of Israman competition on the red Sea as a contractor of Shvoong. He has chosen the spot where Moses held out his staff and the Red sea was separated into two halves by God and the Hebrews walked on dry ground and crossed the sea where Moses opened the water. In 2013 Michael Katz and Shvoong have decided to organize another Israman in Israel on the 5th of May at the exact location where the disciples saw Jesus walking on the sea of Galilee.
