The Spice Girls Hint At Comeback
The Spice Girls had a mini-reunion on Sunday night, with the five women joining forces to perform two of their hits at the London Olympics closing ceremony.
Melanie C (Sporty Spice) has since gone on to hint that the band may come together for another reunion tour in the near future.
The singer told reporters that she would be happy to perform with the women once more: “I never ever thought we’d get back together, but we did in 2007/2008. I’m really glad we did because it was brilliant and I really enjoyed it. There’s absolutely nothing to say we wouldn’t do it again at some point in the future.”
The news of another Spice Girls reunion would be sure to excite many. The Spice Girls are one of the only British pop groups to achieve major success Worldwide. Victoria, Mel C, Mel B, Emma and Geri, who are all in their mid 30’s received rave reviews about their one-off performance at the closing ceremony, with many claiming the band were the highlight of the night.
It seems that such a reunion is however highly unlikely; a huge performance at a global event like the Olympics is surely a good send off for the band, which can’t be topped. Many other factors could also stop the chance of a comeback.
Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) was reportedly difficult in coming round to the idea of the group reforming for the Olympics performance, and is keen to stick to her popular fashion work rather than her singing past. Each member of the band also has children, and working out a schedule to come together to embark on a worldwide tour is going to be very difficult.
Some have suggested that Emma, Geri and both Mel’s may rejoin to perform again without Victoria on board, although this is sure to be to the displeasure of most loyal Spice Girls fans.
