Richard Gere Kicked Out Of Restaurant After Flirting With Diner’s Wife
Hollywood actor Richard Gere was ordered to leave the restaurant he was dining at earlier this week, after flirting with a fellow diner’s wife.
Gere, who is used to playing the ladies man character in his movies, set his sights on impressing a beautiful blonde whilst out for dinner in the fashionable beach resort of East Hampton, Long Island in New York, when the incident occurred.
64 year-old Gere reportedly started to approach the mystery blonde woman at her table, where she was sat several places away from her husband, after attempting to flirt with her from a distance. Unsurprisingly the woman’s husband was furious at Gere attempts to pursue his wife, and ordered him to stay away from her.
A fellow diner at the popular restaurant Nicki and Toni’s revealed that Gere had been staring at the woman all evening, as he began to walk up to her, her husband finally stepped in and told Gere to “Get the f**k out of here.”
Another diner also spoke about the incident, revealing that the woman’s husband was becoming increasingly agitated by Gere staring at his wife, they added: “He (Gere) was leaning in and trying to talk to her, leaning into her ear.”
At first Gere is said to have ignored the man, and instead continued trying to talk to the woman. As he finally got up to leave the restaurant the man is said to have followed him out, to check he was definitely gone. Fellow diners at the time included other A-list stars such as Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin.
Since reports of the incident have emerged, a spokesperson for Richard Gere has issued a statement, explaining the altercation was a misunderstanding: “Reality is, he was at a table with his agents and their wives. On his way out, he stopped to say hi to the people at that table, and joked with the people briefly before leaving.”
