Real Housewives Of The OC Star Gretchen Rossi’s Lawsuit Triumph
After three long-years of court battles Real Housewives of the Orange County star Gretchen Rossi has come out tops, winning her defamation lawsuit against ex-boyfriend Jay Photoblou.
The events which led to the reality TV star filing a lawsuit, started soon after she joined Bravo’s Real Housewives of the OC TV show back in early 2008, when she was engaged to millionaire Jeff Beitzel.
As the show got underway, Jeff was diagnosed with leukemia, tragically losing his battle with the illness in September 2008.
At the time however, Jay, Gretchen’s ex-boyfriend, told the other housewives on the show that Gretchen only started dating Jeff to get onto the show, and that she was in fact dating him. Whilst Gretchen strongly denied Jay’s claims insisting she was just friends with him, the other housewives and viewers struggled to believe her side of the story.
In 2009, Jay sued 35 year-old Gretchen for defamation, after she branded him a thief and a liar. Gretchen however, decided to counter sue Jay, accusing him of not only trashing her in the media, but also other offences such as assault and battery.
It has now been revealed that Gretchen has finally come out on top, as the jury involved in the case have ordered Jay to pay Gretchen $500,000 in damages, as well as $23,250 in punitive damages. Gretchen is also thought to be seeking to place a temporary restraining order against Jay.
