Nicole Kidman Discusses Suffering Depression After Tom Cruise Split
Nicole Kidman has spoken out about her tough battle against depression after she divorced from Tom Cruise.
The Hollywood actress began dating Tom in 1990, with the pair adopting two children Bella and Connor, before deciding to separate in 2001.
Speaking of the marriage, 45 year-old Nicole revealed that whilst her time with Tom did include happy memories, as troubles between the pair surfaced near the end of their marriage she silently suffered with depression.
Nicole said: “I got married really fast and really young. But I don’t regret it. I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period. Then when it didn’t work out I had to really dig deep and find my way through depression.”
Nicole went on to explain that some of the problems that formed in her relationship with Tom stemmed from her struggle to fall pregnant with his baby. She said: “Not to be too detailed, but I’ve had an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages and I’ve had fertility treatments. Every woman who has been through all those ups and downs knows the depression that comes with it.”
Now happily married with country music star and American Idol judge Keith Urban, Nicole revealed the joy she felt when she fell pregnant with her first biological daughter with Keith: “I had so much time thinking that wasn’t going to happen in my life and trying to understand that. When it did happen- and for it to be a surprise- that was great. It is the miracle in my life.”
After having difficulties conceiving for a second time with Keith, the pair opted for a surrogate pregnancy, and welcomed their second daughter who was born last year.
