Lord Of The Rings Actor Sir Ian McKellan Set To Star In Gay Sitcom

British actor Sir Ian McKellan is rumored to be preparing to join the cast of a new gay sitcom, for UK network ITV1.
According to the BBC News, McKellan who is most know for playing Gandalf the wizard in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films as well as Magneto in the popular X-Men films, is set to make a return to the small screen.

The new ITV1 sitcom will see McKellan play Freddie, an aging homosexual actor who lives with his partner Stuart, who is will be played by Sir Derek Jacobi.
Will and grace writer Gary Janetti, will be writing and co-producing the series, which as of yet does not have a name.

Speaking about the new show Jenetti exclaimed: “I’m incredibly excited to be working with ITV and this unbelievable cast!

Meanwhile, Myfanway Moore, the comedy-commissioning editor of ITV1 also discussed the new show, stating: “ITV is thrilled this exciting and bold sitcom, with stellar performers and writing talent is to join the increasing slate of new-look comedy shows on the channel.”
