Labrinth Furious At Simon Cowell Over X Factor Performance
British singer and producer Labrinth is said to be furious at Simon Cowell as he reveals he is being forced to perform on an upcoming episode of The X Factor.
23 year-old Labrinth, who has had a string of hit singles since being signed to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco in 2010, is said to be unhappy after Simon informed him he is going to perform on reality TV talent show The X Factor.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper the musician revealed: “I’ve been forced. (to perform on the show) A lot of people think I hate X Factor. I’m just being honest about the way it works, I think artists who take their craft really seriously don’t go on it.”
Labrinth has always openly admitted that he is not a fan of The X Factor, and similar reality TV shows as he feels they aren’t about finding true musicians, so Simon booking him to perform on the show has really wound him up. As he is signed to Syco the same company that produce The X Factor, Labrinth has little choice but to perform on the show.
Emeli Sande will join Labrinth for a performance of their new track Beneath Your Beautiful; on one of the first of the X Factor live shows. It will not be the first time Labrinth has performed on one of Simon’s shows, earlier this year he gave an exclusive live performance of his single Express Yourself on variety talent show Britain’s Got Talent.
Labrinth is the only artist signed to Syco in the last six years who wasn’t discovered on The X Factor. Simon Cowell was quick to sign Labrinth who is a singer and producer, after he produced and featured on Tinie Tempah’s number 1 hit single Pass Out. Speaking to MTV Labrinth explained why he thinks Simon was interested with signing him to his label: “He got involved with me cause he likes artists that kind of have their own integrity and control their creativity. For him I was a kind of one-stop-shop… Yeah I think he was happy about catching a fish like myself.”
