Johnny Depp To Make Over $90million for Pirates Of The Caribbean 5
Newly single Johnny Depp is set to make a return to the big screen as everyone’s favourite pirate Captain Jack Sparrow for Pirates of the Caribbean 5.
49 year-old Depp looks set to earn a staggering $90million for his role in fifth instalment of the swashbuckling franchise. Such a sum will catapult Depp to the top of the list of Hollywood’s highest paid actors.
Currently worth over $300million, and with another huge pay check on its way, Depp will have no trouble financially supporting his two children following his split from French actress Vanessa-Paradis in June.
It may surprise some that Depp who is famously picky for choosing his movies roles has decided to sign on for another Pirates of the Caribbean movie. However going ahead with the lucrative fifth film will mean that Depp can make careful choices for other film roles purely based on the strength of scripts as opposed to the pay packet.
Depp has made it no secret that he is wary of how over exposure in films can damage a career, as it did to Nicholas Cage and John Travolta, but insists he is not ‘selling out’ by joining the set of fifth Disney pirate action-adventure movie.
Meanwhile, rumours that Depp will play 50’s crooner Dean Martin in a biopic are rife, with Martin’s daughter Deanna insisting he would be great for the role. There is no doubt about it Depp could pull off Martin’s character of being some what of a cool cat and ladies man, although whether or not he has a strong enough singing voice to secure the part is yet to be seen.
