Jermaine Jackson Makes Court Application To Change Surname
Former Jackson 5 star Jermaine Jackson is reported to have filed a court petition to change his famous last name to Jacksun, due to artistic reasons it has been revealed.
The 57 year-old who is the older brother of the late Michael Jackson, has three other brothers who were all in the Jackson 5 together- one of the most successful and most loved boybands of all time. Jermaine’s famous sister’s Janet and Latoya both also share the well-know family surname.
Whilst sources explain Jermaine’s reason for the name alteration is for performance and artistic purposes, it is surprising that her feels his music career will benefit with a name change, after decades of being known across the world for being a Jackson.
Jermaine’s close friend Steve Dennis has admitted the slight name change, will not make much of a difference stating: “phonetically, it changes nothing”, causing many to speculate that the surname change may have something to do with Jermaine’s earnings.
It may well be that Jermaine’s brothers and past record bosses are entitled to a small percent of his solo music earnings under the name Jermaine Jackson, as the name is affiliated with the Jackson 5 band and their music.
If when Los Angeles courts meet in February pass Jermaine’s petition, it should mean any music Jermaine decides to release under the new name Jacksun, will only profit himself.
