Showtime drama series Homeland was the star of the show at last nights Emmys, scooping up the most awards.
Homeland took home some of the most prestigious awards of the evening including Best Drama Series, Best Actress in a Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series and Best Writing for a Drama Series.
33 year-old Claire Danes, the winner of the Best actress award for her role of CIA officer Carrie Mathison in Homeland, gave a heart-felt acceptance speech, which saw her thank her husband. Claire, who is currently pregnant with her first child, gleamed on stage as she accepted her award in a bold yellow dress. The actress used the moment to thank her husband Basic Instinct 2 star Hugh Dancy: “My husband, my love, my life, my baby daddy. I couldn’t do anything without you. I love you so much and I am so grateful.”
Claire went on to pay tribute to her co-star Damian Lewis who went on to win the award of Best Actor in a Drama Series later that evening. In her speech Claire said: He did the magnificent trick of taking a villain and making them someone so human.”
When collecting his award British actor Damian Lewis, who plays a US marine recruited by Al-Qaeda whilst a prisoner of war in the show, couldn’t help but express his emotions at winning. Damian took to the stage to say: “I’m one of those pesky Brits, I apologise” before comically adding: “I don’t really believe in judging art, but I thought I’d show up just in case.”
