Fun ideas for planning a great bachelorette party
Plan a weekend-long destination bachelorette party for the ultimate good-bye to single-hood. It is the perfect excuse to go on a getaway.
Bachelorette parties are a last chance for the bride-to-be to go out and party like she is single. These days, women are opting to skip the strippers in favor of super trendy, weekend-long getaways, complete with shopping trips, salon and spa visits, outdoor sporting activities and luxurious pajama parties. It is easy to see why these resort-style parties are so popular, who wouldn’t want a great excuse to spend their weekend that way? Besides, the bride has been single her whole life until now. Shouldn’t she celebrate that closing chapter of her life with more than just one night of fun with all of her best girlfriends?
Choose your destination:
To start planning the perfect bachelorette party, you’ll need to first pick the destination. There are so many great places to go that it can be difficult to identify a single perfect place. To help narrow down the possibilities consider the primary activity. If you want somewhere with unbeatable shopping, nothing is more current than New York. Other great choices are the Magnificent Mile in Chicago or Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. Las Vegas can’t be beat for non-stop gambling, but Reno and Shreveport are great for gambling. Arizona is home to many world-famous resorts, but it also provides nature lovers with plenty of rustic scenery and outdoor activities such as hiking and horseback riding. For really adventurous groups, take on the Grand Canyon by mule-back. These mule rides are booked way in advance so, call at least 6 months ahead of time to check availability before planning the rest of the vacation.
If the guests in your party have diverse interests, you may split up during the day, but there are tons of fun things your party can do together during down-time instead of wasting time holed up in your separate hotel rooms. Stay in a hotel that offers great package deals on group activities that can be done in the hotel. Some resorts offer psychic readings, workout classes, or private wine tasting. Another fun option is to hold a one-night sleepover in the bachelorette’s room. Stay up all night like you used to during the height of your single years, then have room service deliver breakfast right to your door.
Night out on the town:
Choose a destination that has a great night life. Hit the glitzy clubs one after the other and make a night out of club and bar hopping. What better way is there to celebrate single-hood than to let a random guy buy you a couple of drinks (no strings attached of course). Afterward, find a downtown 24-hour restaurant and stay up until 4am eating baskets of French fries. There’s nothing like a little grease to settle a queasy stomach.
To have a successful party no matter where the location, be sure that all of the attendees will have at least one thing lined up that they really want to do. Before reserving scuba diving lessons for everyone, find out one thing that each one of them really wants to do while in the chosen destination and try to plan accordingly. Guests need to remember however, that this is ultimately a party for the bride, so what she wants should be priority.
