Talking to E! Online, West revealed he already had a few actresses in mind for the film: “I like the idea of the Expenda-Belles where it’s seven or eight women mercenaries. It would be Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich, the list goes on. Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis would be great. It would be a running parallel. They would meet up and then they would fight and they would join up and save each other.”

Adi Shankar, producer of The Grey and Dredd, is said to be backing the project, whilst Dutch Southern will be brought in as a scriptwriter.

Actor Terry Crews, who plays Hale Caesar in the first two Expendables films, also seems behind the idea of a female spin-off, suggesting Charlize Theron would be an ideal candidate: “I would love to see Charlize Theron. She would be a sweet bada** just doing some crazy stuff!”

Crews went on to suggest that an all-black version of The Expendables, which features some of the toughest black action stars, would also be a good idea: “ We could do a black version; I could see it. There’s really no end” before adding that the format of such all-star packed films gives the audience their money’s worth: “we’re also talking about the nature of the film right no, where one guy really doesn’t carry a movie. You have to give fans more for their money.”

Possible actors who would be likely to appear in an all-black spin-off could include: Wesley Snipes, Samuel L Jackson, Idris Elba, and Carl Weathers.
