Enrique Iglesias Close To Signing American Idol Deal
Latin superstar Enrique Iglesias is rumored to be close to signing a deal to join the American Idol judging panel, alongside Mariah Carey, after being offered a $4million contract.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Enrique has been offered the healthy sum, to join Mariah as the second confirmed judge to appear on the 12th series of the TV talent search show.
Producers of the show have expressed their desire to get Enrique on board for some time now as they not only want a Latino star to appeal to the large Latin American audience tuning in to the show, but they also want a handsome male on the panel and Enrique fits that mould.
Meanwhile, the producers are said to be indecisive about the other two remaining judging roles. It is thought that Nicki Minaj is still in the running to land a role on the show, although there has been difficulty drawing up a contract that suits both parties. Country music star Keith Urban is also rumored a favorite candidate.
Randy Jackson, the only original judge to have worked on all 11 series of the show, is thought to be stepping away from the judging panel and taking up more of a mentor role, guiding the contestants through the process. This allows for an entirely revamped line-up of judges, fit to contend against the successful rival singing shows The Voice and The X Factor, which have an all-star line up of judges.
