Death Threats Cause Kim Kardashian To Apologize For Posting Offensive Tweets
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has been forced to apologize for posting offensive messages on Twitter regarding Israel and Palestine, after receiving an ambush of abuse on the social networking site.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star became the target of tweeters yesterday, after posting a comment in support of Israel.
32 year-old Kim tweeted to her followers, “Praying for everyone in Israel”, following the news that Hamas militants had launched a rocket attack on Jerusalem, in retaliation to Israel’s killing of the Hamas military chief.
Soon after the tweet, Kim faced a hoard of abuse from the social networkers, with some even sending her death threats.
Unsurprisingly, Kim was quick to delete the comment, however it appeared that the damage was already caused, with angry comments still coming her way.
One user, who made a reference to Kim’s Armenian origins, exclaimed: “You are a disgrace to your people and your ancestors”, whilst another user tweeted: “People like you are the reason I want to die Palestine.”
In a bid to calm the situation down, Kim added another tweet, reading: “And praying for everyone in Palestine and across the world.” However, after this attempt failed to work, the star was later forced to issue an apologetic statement to those whom she had offended.
The statement said: “I want to own up to and explain that earlier today I sent out two tweets about saying prayers for people in Palestine and Israel and after hearing from my followers, I decided to take down the tweets because I realized that some people were offended and hurt by what I said, and for that I apologize.”
“I should have pointed out my intentions behind these tweets when I posted them. The fact is that regardless of religion and political beliefs, there are countless innocent people involved who didn’t choose this, and I pray for all of them and also for a resolution. I also pray for all the other people around the world who are caught in similar crossfire’s.”
