Black Eyed Peas Star Fergie Confesses To Drug Past
Black Eyed Peas star Fergie has confessed to struggling with a drug addiction in the past, in a candid interview with chat show host Oprah Winfrey.
The singer admitted on the show Oprah’s Next Chapter that she previously suffered from several drug addictions during her teenage years, which soon saw her life spiral out of control.
It was Fergie’s addiction to crystal meth which finally made her realise she needed help. The illegal drug, made Fergie experience extreme paranoia, causing her to believe the FBI and SWAT teams were following her.
Fergie revealed that a one of visit to a church, helped her to start her getting her life back on track:
“I started getting really paranoid. So I went one day into this church and I thought that the FBI and the SWAT tea were outside the church, so I had a conversation with God… and I said, “Alright, if I go out there and the FBI and SWAT team’s are not out there, then it’s the drugs and I’m stopping.”
Although Fergie’s battle with drugs only latest for a year, she highlighted how her health deteriorated drastically throughout the time period, explaining at one point she weighed just 90 pounds.
As well as discussing her drug past, Fergie also told Oprah that during her time spent at college she was a sexually free spirit. Whilst Fergie admitted to having had sexual encounters with women, she strongly denied being a lesbian, stating:
“I never dated women. It was more fun. I think that a lot of women experience this sort of thing in college. Tour was like college in a way. I mean I guess I would call it bisexual or sexually open, fee spirit… what have you.”
