Australian Reporter Offends Christina Hendricks By Calling Her Full-Figured
Mad Men star Christina Hendricks hit back at an Australian reporter declaring she was ‘rude’ after being described in an interview as being full-figured.
The 37 year-old TV star took great offence when Kate Waterhouse, fashion editor of the Sydney Sun Herald asked her the following question: “You have been an inspiration as a full-figured woman. What is the most inspiring story that you can remember when you’ve inspired someone?”
Christina is said to have immediately took great offence to the term ‘full-figured’, and was shocked the interviewer had described her in that way. Not knowing how to answer the question, the TV star looked towards her publicist present for help.
Whilst Christina’s publicist was forced to step in and ask if maybe the question could be rephrased, Kate didn’t get the hint and simply started asking the same question once more, before Christina injected the reporter, clearly offended once again to say: “I mean…. You just said it again.”
The interviewer finally apologized to Christina, claiming she did not hear the publicist’s request to not ask any questions related to her weight, before continuing with the rest of the interview.
Once Christina had finished answering questions, she is said to have approached Kate off-camera to express her disgust at how she had just been described, stating: “I think calling me full-figured is just rude.”
It has since been highlighted that Christina was supposed to be promoting the new Specsaver’s glasses campaign she is now fronting, and therefore did not expect such personal and rude comments about her appearance to come from the interviewer.
